LG Plans to Invest $6.7B in Solar, EV batteries, LEDs and Water Treatment

Sep 26, 2011 Charles Redell from www.Greenbiz.com reported that on Sunday LG has announced its plans to invest over $6.7 billion in green businesses by 2015. The investment is expected to yield about $8.4 billion in revenues and create 10,000 new jobs by the end of 2015, according to reports. It's all a part of a strategy the company calls "Green New Business."

AIXTRON Delivers G5 System for GaN/Si Applications to Korea´s LG Electronics

Sep 26, 2011 In the official press release AIXTRON SE today announced that LG Electronics Woomyeon R&D Campus (LG Electronics Advanced Research Institute), an existing customer in South Korea, has placed an order for one AIX G5 HT MOCVD system in a 8x6-inch wafer configuration. LGE will use the system to develop GaN-on-Si Power Electronics in partnership with AIXTRON. The contract also includes a cooperation agreement in order to optimize LGE´s GaN/Si processes and to accelerate its proprietary device-oriented production.

Sep 26, 2011 The Sacramento Bee report that the Lichternacht (Festival of Lights) in Solingen, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, saw the unveiling of the world's largest flashlight on Saturday, September 24, 2011. Made by Zweibrüder Optoelectronics, it's four meters long and features 19 high-powered LED lights. Thanks to the flashlight, the company has made it into the Guinness Book of Records.

EU to Launch Imola Project of €5.1 Million on OLED Intelligent Lighting
