Visionox Begins AMOLED Mass Production Project

Aug 10, 2011 According to company's press release, Visionox has officially announced the launch of AMOLED (Active matrix organic light emitting display) industrial project. It is planning to invest a 4.5G above AMOLED production line which will go into operation in 2013.
Visionox became the first corporation in mainland China that has its own designed PMOLED (passive matrix organic light emitting display) production line as well as AMOLED production line.This is a significant milestone in Chinese OLED industry.

According to media reports ( www.displaybank.com) , Visionox started its preparations  to reach AMOLED industrialization, 2 years ago.  In September 2009, Kunshan Visionox Display set up a new corporation called Kunshan New Flat Panel Display Technology Center (KSFPD) by jointed with Kunshan Industrial Technology Research Institute, and completed the Chinese first AMOLED pilot production line at the same year. In December 2010, KSFPD made a success in the field of LTPS TFT (low temperature polysilicon thin film transistor) which could be used in AMOLED and achieved integration of LTPS TFT backplane and OLED technology. Based on these developments, 2.8-inch color AMOLED display was developed. In July 2011, with the support of Kunshan government, Kunshan Visionox Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. (Kunshan Visionox Optoelectronics) was established to build AMOLED mass production line. That indicated Visionox officially stepped into AMOLED mass production line.

OLED (organic light emitting display) is the new generation of display technology after LCD (liquid crystal display). Compared to LCD, OLED has a lot of advantages such as solid state, self-emitting, high brightness, high contrast, ultra-thin, low power, unlimited viewing angle, wide operating temperature range, flexible available and etc. OLED is considered as one of the most promising new display technologies, as well as an investment hot spot in international high-tech field.

Since established ten years ago, Visionox always insists independent innovation and considered promoting China OLED industry as its own responsibility. By working tightly with Tsinghua University, they have applied a total of 288 domestic and foreign patents so far, including 39 foreign patents and 131 authorized patents. In addition, Tsinghua University and Visionox are important participants in formulating OLED international standards and national standards. Their researches have got many supports from the National Natural Science Foundation Committee, the Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other government departments.

As a new industry, technology is the most critical elements of OLED industrial development. China can only rely on independent R&D since the integrated foreign technology is not available in the initial stage of industrialization. 

Visionox will invest a number of AMOLED production lines in the next few years. The product size will cover from 3 inches to 30 inches and its applications include mobile phones, computers, televisions and etc.
