Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System 90% Efficient Reports Interstate Warehouse

Groom Energy and Digital Lumens today announced the successful outcome of three separate installations of the Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System. The Interstate Warehousing facilities in Indiana, Ohio, and Tennessee, where the lighting solutions were installed, have recorded 90% energy efficiency compared with older sections of the buildings.

Compared to a $.51 cost per square foot to light the older sections, the new intelligent lighting system brings that number down to $.04. The results of these preliminary installations have led the Interstate to upgrade all of its warehouses with the Digital Lumens System to meet energy efficiency goals.

In terms of watts, the 117,000 sq. ft. space in Indiana uses about 43,000 kWh a year, while older portions use 550,000 kWh (more than ten times that). The difference in energy savings for operating the new section, over $30,000, comes as no surprise with the high energy efficiency. Just this change reduces carbon dioxide production by 771,000 pounds.
