Lighting Science Group Releases New Glimpse™ Downlight

Sep 14, 2011
Lighting Science Group (LSG) today unveiled its new Glimpse™ LED downlight. The lighting solution offers the same high quality lumen output and reliability LSG products are known for, now with a novel thermal design using less raw materials in production.

Jim Haworth, the company CEO, details the goals of the company is to produce innovative LED technology both highly efficient and advanced. In the case of the "ultra-efficient" Glimpse, the energy savings it can achieve is why it is "ranking among the 'greenest' LED fixtures on the market today." The lights are also a green technology because of their construction - using fewer resources - and because "Glimpse is fully recyclable and free of toxic hazards including mercury," creating little waste.

From the retrofitting perspective, the LED's form adopts to most 5" and 6" recessed downlight cans, and leads to greater rewards like an energy efficiency of up to 80%. Its average lifetime is also noteworthy, lasting 25 times longer than traditional incandescents. Another energy efficient quality of the light is its dimmability reaching as low as 5% power. The ENERGY STAR®-rated Glimpse is ideal in new constructions and commercial retrofits because it can also be surfacemounted as a lighting fixture.

A quality that sets the Glimpse apart is the solution it presents in the debate of sustainability versus energy savings. This LED offers both bright lighting while using less materials, and is recyclable for when it lasts through its long lifetime.
