PRG Releases First Fixture from TruColor™ Line
Sep 19, 2011
Production Resource Group, L.L.C., the leading global entertainment lighting company, began to introduce its new TruColor™ line of digital lighting for image capture. Three months after receiving the 2011 Cine Gear Expo Technical Award (in Lighting), the Foton™ is the first fixture in the series to be released.
Remote phosphor technology is used in an innovative way in the Foton to attain a CRI past 95, with "a nearly continuous light spectrum" that goes beyond what traditional LEDs can do. The model was designed for this purpose, for the light to transition smoothly and accurately through the color spectrum. This ability of the Foton is "impressive and something that the [lighting] industry has been looking for," according to Joshua Thatcher, a Cine Gear lighting judge and programmer who has worked on projects like Iron Man 2 and Cowboys & Aliens.
Other attributes of the Foton are that it is "flicker-free at any frame rate, silent, waterproof, and generates almost no heat" with a power consumption of less than 30 watts. It local dimming is also versatile, ranging from 0 to 100%, with other output controls through any external dimmer. Its reflectors come in 20, 40, and 60 degree beam angle in a single source hard light.
The Foton is now available worldwide through PRG's dealer network.
