Cree Troffers Meet Highest Level of Quality Standards of DesignLights Consortium™
Sep 20, 2011
Cree, Inc. today revealed that its entire series of LED-based troffers has met the DesignLights Consortium™ highest level of quality standards, including its most recent Cree CR series. Notably, the CR14™, CR22™, CR24™ and LR24™ and LR24-HE troffers were rated as the most efficient with the highest CRI of any products in the "Linear Panel" categories.
The DLC is comprised of "utility companies and regional energy efficiency organizations" whose goal is to define the quality and performance of energy-efficient lighting. This group formed to encourage use of quality energy efficient lighting in commercial applications. The DLC is also used as an alternate source of lighting standards, especially for solutions like LED-based troffers or low/high-bay fixtures that ENERGY STAR® are not yet covered by ENERGY STAR®.
The DLC rating is therefore valuable in comparing available commercial lighting solutions, since the "DLC Qualified Product List is the de facto standard for" energy efficient lighting, said Craig Loften, Cree, vice president of sales. Loften also pointed out that currently the CR14 and CR24 are the only 1x4 and 2x4 troffers qualified by the DLC.
