New Exar 8 Channel Driver with Smart Talk™ Technology

Sep 27, 2011
Exar Corporation has released a new 8 channel constant current LED driver, the XRP7618. As the name suggests, the XRP7618 is "ideally suited to drive up to eight strings of multiple LEDs" with currents up to 100mA, while also supporting up to 30V on its LED channel inputs. Since more devices can be cascaded to drive additional channels, this driver model is best for mid to large panel backlighting uses in LED matrices. There is also the option to combine channels for custom higher currents per channel, with Exar's Smart Talk™ technology a source of managing system power consumption and heat dissipation to minimize it.

What makes this driver relevant to contemporary LED applications, is its "versatility and performance at the driver level" match the "simple, efficient and highly customizable" qualities expected from LEDs, said Eric Pittana, director of marketing, Power Product Line.

Key Product Features:
100mA per channel @ 30V
±1.5% channel to channel current matching
Increasable current driving capability up to 800mA
External resistor for current programming
Analog or PWM dimming control up to 25kHz
