OSRAM Opto Semiconductors Announces Frank Tillner As New COO

Starting October 1, 2011, Frank Tillner (51) will be a new member of the executive team of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. His new role will be as COO (Chief Operating Officer), succeeding Elke Eckstein, at the headquarters in Regensburg. This will include responsibility for the chip and LED production plants in Regensburg, Germany and Penang, Malaysia. Tillner has a many years of experience in the semiconductor processes, with his last position as Senior Vice President at Conergy AG.
Aldo Kamper, CEO of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, said Tillner was the ideal candidate, whose 'long-standing experience in the sector' lends not only 'an immense specialist knowledge but also the management expertise' necessary for the demands of different processes within OSRAM.
Tillner began his career in the semiconductor industry 26 years ago, when after studies in physics engineering, he first worked for Siemens AG as a process engineer for lithography (Semiconductor Memories division). Throughout his career, he has held executive posts such as CEO for Secure Mobile Solutions Group (Infineon AG), and Senior Vice President of Production and Purchasing (Qimonda AG) and Solar Components & Global Large Projects (Conergy AG).
