OSRAM Golden Dragon Plus-LEDs Used Light Historic Portuguese City
Oct 21, 2011
Now used in the first conversion to sustainable street lighting in Portugal, Golden Dragon LEDs fr om OSRAM Opto were the LEDs of choice for Schréder lighting solutions to use in their 400 straight-lined "Rivara" luminaires. The town wh ere this project took place, Arraiolos, is already known for its traditional carpets and its castle with over 700 years of accompanying history. Arriaolos now also has a tie to the future with the addition of the Golden Dragon LEDs to light its street.
Schréder's "Rivara" luminaires, developed by its lighting design office ECLIPZ, each contain 36 warm-white (3000K) Golden Dragon Plus-LEDs from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. The LED have a wide radiation angle of 170 degrees, producing an even illumination with low power consumption compared to the conventional sodium-halide lamps. Aesthetically, these LEDs also fit in with their historic surroundings, creating a warm color impression with a CRI of 82. According to Miguel Sampaio de Mattos, General Manager of Schréder Portugal, the "exceptional colour rendering" of the Golden Dragon Plus-LEDs was the reason they were chosen for the Portuguese pilot project, as well as for the "increased safety, as the surrounding area is more clearly outlined" than it would be with other forms of lighting.
