OSRAM Opto Golden Dragon Plus LEDs in CLP Group Company-Wide Installation Project
Oct 25, 2011
OSRAM Opto Semiconductor's Golden Dragon Plus LEDs were recently part of a project lighting the historic streets of Arraiolos, Portugal, the country's first conversion to sustainable street lighting. Now, these same LEDs are part of another first, this time for CLP Group, "one of the largest investor-owned power businesses in Asia Pacific."
CLP Group has started a project replacing its premises with LED lamps, and the first stage of this began with installing 90W floodlights in indoor and outdoor premises of three Hong Kong locations. Replaced are 250W low pressure sodium (LPS) lamps with the Golden Dragon Plus LEDs incorporated into the replacement lamps. The result of these new energy-efficient lamps is estimated to be a decrease of 13 tons of carbon dioxide produced per year, which coincides with CLP's initial goal to minimize its impact on the environment.
The Golden Dragon's "full white colour temperature range" and compatibility with reflectors and secondary lenses make the model versatile for use in different applications, said Kai-chong Cheng, Marketing Director Asia Pacific of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. "We will be delighted to see these LED floodlights continue to replace the traditional lighting fixtures in CLP premises as the programme rolls out."
