Acuity Brands Associates Honored by IES

Nov 16, 2011 Acuity Brands, Inc., a market leader in innovative lighting solutions, announced today that the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) has recognized three of the Company’s associates during its recent annual conference in Austin, Texas.

David L. DiLaura, Acuity Brands Lighting Principal Illuminating Engineer, was presented the Taylor Technical Talent Award for his contributions to the 10th edition of the IES Lighting Handbook and for his contribution to the paper “A Procedure for Determining Target Illuminances,” published in LEUKOS, Vol. 7, Number 3, January 2011. IES grants the Taylor Technical Award each year for the contribution of an outstanding technical application paper published in LD&A, LEUKOS, or presented at the IES Annual Conference or at a regional conference.

Thomas Scott, LC, Acuity Brands Lighting Specification Sales Manager, received the Distinguished Service Award for 28 years of service within the Society.  The IES Distinguished Service Award was established to honor those who have significantly furthered the mission of the IES in non-technical areas.  Scott’s work includes serving on various IES committees as well as providing leadership within the National Council on the Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP), which established a national certification for lighting professionals.

The IES Fellow designation has been awarded to Gregory J. Subisak, Acuity Brands Lighting Director of Lighting Education for Holophane.  The IES Fellow award recognizes members for valuable contributions to the technical activities of the Society, to the art and science of illumination or to a directly related scientific field.  Subisak was recognized for 35 years of service to the IES and for his advancements of the science of lighting through research and publications, especially related to visual performance and lighting psychology.  He holds 17 patents for optical design and is passionate about lighting education.
