Light-Based Technologies Raises $7.5M in Series B Financing

Sep 12, 2011 Light-Based Technologies Inc., Vancouver based developer and manufacturer of control and power solutions for LED applications, has announced successful completion of the second round of funding. Their Series B financing round brought in $7.5M. The financing was led by Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital and VantagePoint Capital Partners.

European LED Luminaire Maker Optogan Launched New E27 Lamp in Russia

Sep 12, 2011 The Optogan Group has presented its first  LED lamp retrofit for the incandescent 60W lamps in Russia. The unit was designed in collaboration with a prestigious russian design studio art.lebedev and has been made out of the highest quality russian and german produced components. It is competitively priced at 995 rubles corresponding to approximately 33 US dollars and is expected to enter the world market in early 2012 with a targeted price of 30 euros.

LED Engin Introduces New Narrow Lens and Emitter Combination

Sep 12, 2011 LED Engin, Inc., announced today the introduction of two narrow-angle TIR (Total Internal Reflection) high efficiency lenses for the company's high flux LuxiGen LZC- and LZP- series emitters. The proprietary 8-degree narrow spot lens and 15-degree spot lens are designed for use with LED Engin's compact, high flux density LZC (12-die) and LZP (24-die) LuxiGen emitters. World's Most Efficient White OLED Developed by Panasonic

Sep 12, 2011 Oled-info has reported an advanced development achieved by Panasonic Electric Works in making of the highly efficient OLED device - featuring 128 lm/W efficiency. The efficiency this high was obtained by using a semi-spherical highly-refractive lens to enhance light extraction. The OLED panel is small - only 2x2 mm, and according to Panasonic this is the world's most efficient white OLED.

Magnalight Released Perko Pole Mount LED Spotlight for Boats

Sep 8, 2011 Larson Electronics' has announced the release of a Perko Stanchion Mounted LED light emitter with included Perko Mount and standard red and green running lights. The Magnalight LEDLB-21-S-E 21 Watt LED Spotlight produces a tightly focused spot beam light pattern that is not normally associated with LED light emitters. This IP67 rated LED fixture contains seven 3 watt LEDs and produces 1,750 lumens, creating a light beam capable of reaching 675 feet in length without the wide beam spread normally produced by LED spotlights. A Perko pole mount fixture with attached red and green running lights allows easy installation and removal and works with most standard Perko mounting sockets.

Sep 7, 2011 An outstanding development in the manufacturing of stable quantum dot based light emitting diodes has recently been reported by two research groups from the University of Florida. The research article published in the online issue of Nature Photonics ( describes spin coating based method for easy manufacturing of stable quantum dot LEDs with maximum luminance and power efficiency values of 4,200 cd m−2 and 0.17 lm W−1 for blue emission, 68,000 cd m−2 and 8.2 lm W−1 for green, and 31,000 cd m−2 and 3.8 lm W−1 for orange-red. It is specified that incorporation of the ZnO nanoparticles allows these devices to exhibit high environmental stability. The unencapsulated devices have operating lifetimes exceeding 250 h in low vacuum with an initial brightness of 600 cd m−2
