Leotek and BetaLED to replace 140,000 street lights in LA
Sep 22, 2009 BetaLED, a division of Ruud Lighting, and Leotek will supply street LED lights to the City of Los Angeles over five years. The City plans to replace 140,000 high-pressure sodium street lights, and anticipates an annual savings of $10,000,000 in energy costs, after the initial investment payback period.
The project is a joint effort of the City of Los Angeles and the Clinton Climate Initiative.
Ruud just shipped its first 2,000 LEDs to the city and expects to continue shipping about that number each month. The installations have also just begun.
