UPS Expo, a 3-day Exhibition of Energy Saving Solutions
Aug 9, 2010 A three day trade show of Uninterrupted Power Supply ( UPS), Inverters, Batteries, Solar equipment, Power Storage Devices, Alternate Energy solutions was organized in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, from August 6 to 8th.
The main objective of this expo was to remind - power cuts are inevitable. We need power back up equipment. However, public in general still do not have awareness about it. Now there are many types of equipment, which are affordable to individuals.
About 40 exhibitors were displaying their latest, innovative products. The equipment of different manufacturers, suppliers, dealers and distributors was available under one roof for every one to compare and choose equipment which is best suitable to them: Amara Raja, Delta, Exide, Accel, Numeric, Emerson, Whirlpool, Kirloskar, Microtek, Su-Kam, Power One, Luminous, APC, HBL, Crompton Greaves, Bajaj, Rocket, V-Guard, Tata Green, 360 Energy, Sreetek, Whirlpool, Sun Energy, Entek, Ernad, Albit, Swastik, Supreme, Surya, Okaya and many other companies.
One of the products displayed was Tribal Life--which is India's first smart LED based re-chargeable portable emergency lantern. It delivers a 360 degree LED lighting and is particularly useful in rural areas. It is brought out by Amararaj Batteries. It was launched in March 2010 in domestic market and its weighs 2kgs and costs Rs 1500/-.
Normally exhibitions like this one are organized in countries like US, Europe. However, sometime ago an International Battery Fair was held in India. Now a regional version of the same was organized at Hyderabad. This itself is an indication that the market is poised for growth. The Indian UPS market is highly competitive. According to Frost & Sullivan it was worth US$544.4 million in 2007 and estimates this to reach US$1,316.5 million in 2014.
