Cree Brings the LED Lighting Revolution to The Home Depot
Aug 19, 2010 LED lighting company Cree announced that the company has supplied the most energy-efficient LED downlights to Home Depot for sale online. The price for the lights, available under Home Depot's EcoSmart brand, is $49.95, and is targeted to be available in nearly 2,000 The Home Depot retail stores in fall 2010.
The EcoSmart LED Downlight was designed to exceed stringent ENERGY STAR® criteria and consumes just 10.5 watts, which is approximately 85-percent less energy than a comparable incandescent and 50-percent less energy than a fluorescent.
Created specifically for the residential market, the EcoSmart LED Downlight is designed to last at least 35,000 hours, or approximately 32 years with three hours of daily use. Easily installed into most standard six-inch recessed housings for retrofits and new construction, the new downlight is dimmable to 5 percent, with off the shelf dimmers.
