The meeting aims to gather input from partners and stakeholders for future development of the light bulbs specification. The deadline for in-person registration is November 25.

Electronics News reports an exciting research development from Siemens Corporate Technology and OSRAM. Using a High Throughput Experimentation (THE) they were able to develop new dark red luminescent material suited for light-emitting diodes.The novel luminescent material is intended for general lighting warm-toned white LEDs, LCD backlights, and automotive LED applications.

Gigahertz-Optik launched new X1-RM Multimeter, that is a rack-mountable version of the X1 series hand-held universal optometer for use with a wide variety of detector types. It combines a powerful microprocessor and electronics in a rack-mountable module for integration into standard 19” rack-mount housings. A unique feature of the X1-RM is its capability to operate up to four photodiode detectors with all four signals displayed on its four line display with on/off backlighting.

It has been reported that a team at Stanford's School of Engineering has demonstrated an ultrafast nanoscale light-emitting diode (LED) that is orders of magnitude lower in power consumption than today's laser-based systems and is able to transmit data at the very rapid rate of 10 billion bits per second.
