OSRAM Acquires Encelium Technologies Increasing Stake in Company to 100 Percent

Oct 5, 2011 OSRAM has announced a new signed agreement with Townsend Ventures, LLC to increase its stake in Encelium Technologies from 15 to 100 percent, acquiring the company. The deal was made by OSRAM as a way to add to its role in two key global growth markets, LED based technologies and Light Management Systems (LMS). Encelium should further OSRAM's General Lighting portfolio of energy-efficient lightings products and solutions.

Acuity Brands Acquires Pathway Connectivity, Inc

Oct 5, 2011 Acuity Brands, a market leader in innovative energy-efficient lighting, control and daylighting solutions, today announced that it has acquired for cash Pathway Connectivity, Inc. Pathway is a leading manufacturer of networked data communications and interface equipment for architectural and entertainment lighting control applications world-wide. Established in 1985 and based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Pathway designs and manufactures innovative electronics that enable lighting control systems to communicate with intelligent lighting fixtures and power devices, even when those products utilize different communications protocols. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed and the acquisition is not expected to materially impact Acuity Brands future consolidated financial results.

FoxFury Announced Release of New Rook White / UV LED Flashlights for Security

Oct 5, 2011 FoxFury Lighting Solutions, designer and manufacturer of professional portable LED lighting, announced its new Rook SM3 and MD3 LED flashlights. According to press release these lights feature white light and UV light (also known as black light) and serve as general illumination lighting tools than can also inspect currency and identification. Both lights are specifically designed for law enforcement, security guards, TSA and other government security personnel.

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors Announces Frank Tillner As New COO

Oct 4, 2011 Starting October 1, 2011, Frank Tillner (51) will be a new member of the executive team of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. His new role will be as COO (Chief Operating Officer), succeeding Elke Eckstein, at the headquarters in Regensburg. This will include responsibility for the chip and LED production plants in Regensburg, Germany and Penang, Malaysia. Tillner has a many years of experience in the semiconductor processes, with his last position as Senior Vice President at Conergy AG.

20,000 Effective Lumen LED Scene Light Released by J.W. Speaker Corporation

Rohnert Park, California Begins Replacement of the Streetlights with LED Luminaries

Oct 3, 2011 According to local media, Rohnert Park is moving to expand an LED lighting program using federal stimulus money.The city has already completed installation of LED lights in its parks, and now it will use about $15,000 to replace high pressure sodium street lights with LED bulbs in pilot installation project.

Diodes Incorporated's LED Driver Reduces EMI in Low-Cost Lamps

Oct 3, 2011 Diodes Incorporated, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application specific standard products within the broad discrete, logic and analog semiconductor markets, has recently announced the AL8807 buck LED driver. Switching at a frequency of up to 1MHz and ensuring closely controlled rise and fall times, the AL8807 reduces EMI issues in the lower cost MR16 LED lamp market. To achieve required higher output powers, the driver can operate at input voltages between 6V to 30V and provide up to eight series-connected LEDs with a constant 1A current.

The strong magnetic mounting base and 900 lumens the light produces make this portable LED useful as a spotlight or area light. NanoMarkets Issued Analysis Report on OLED Lighting Manufacturing
