Dialight Unveils First-Ever 90mm LED Low-Beam to Meet SAE J1455 Ruggedized Spec
Jan 12, 2011 Dialight has announced the launch and immediate availability of its new LED 90mm Low-Beam Headlamp for mass transit vehicles and commercial truck applications. The Dialight Low-Beam meets FMVSS108 and is the only such product on the market designed to meet the stringent SAE J1455 specification for ruggedized applications, making it ideal to withstand the harsh operating conditions for municipal busses and commercial truck fleets.
The product is the industry’s first LED reflector-based design that utilizes a reflective bowl to create a more uniform, consistent light beam that maximizes output and minimizes light loss to improve visibility and safety for oncoming traffic. Drawing less than 14 watts, the Dialight 90mm Low-Beam reduces energy consumption. It has a 7 year warranty. The product is assembled in the U.S.A. at the Dialight manufacturing facility in Roxboro, NC and meets the requirements of the Buy American Act for federally funded projects.
The Baltimore (Md.) Transit Authority is the first customer to receive 42 new busses all equipped with the new LED units, which provide an exceptionally long life expectancy in excess of 10 years or 25,000 hours of output.
